Pelvic Floor Physical Therapy

Pelvic Floor Physical Therapy in Annapolis

At One. Physical Therapy, we understand how challenging it can be to live with pelvic pain, leakage, or other pelvic floor concerns, and how hard it can be to talk about them. Our dedicated, women-owned and operated physical therapy and wellness practice in Annapolis specializes in personalized, one-on-one care that addresses the root causes of your symptoms, not just the symptoms themselves. With over 47 years of combined experience, our team offers a private, supportive environment where you can restore function, reduce pain, and achieve greater overall wellness.

What is Pelvic Floor Physical Therapy?

Pelvic floor physical therapy is a specialized branch of rehab that helps those experiencing pain or functional problems related to the pelvis, hips, and spine. At One. Physical Therapy in Annapolis, care starts with a thorough evaluation, then moves into an evidence-based treatment plan that may include exercise, manual therapy, and education. The goal is to restore function, reduce pain, and help you get back to the activities that matter to you.

Who Can Benefit from Pelvic Floor Physical Therapy in Annapolis

What to Expect During a Session

Your first visit at One. is all about gathering information and developing a plan that fits your goals. Follow-up visits build on that plan, with regular reassessment and adjustments as you progress and your needs change.

A Conversation About You:

We always start by talking. This may include a discussion about your symptoms, health history, daily routine, and your goals.

Movement and Strength Assessment:

A typical musculoskeletal assessment of posture, movement patterns, breathing, mobility, flexibility, coordination, and strength.

Pelvic Floor Examination (Only If Needed):

Depending on your concerns, a closer look at the pelvic floor muscles may be useful. Exams are done in a private treatment room at our Annapolis clinic.

  • External exam: Visual observation and, as needed, hands-on assessment of the skin and superficial muscles.
  • Internal exam: One gloved finger is used to assess the function, strength, tension, endurance, and coordination of the pelvic floor muscles. No speculum or stirrups are used.

Many initial evaluations do not require an internal exam at all. You are always in control. You can ask questions, pause, or decline any part of the exam at any time.

We’ll review what we found, discuss your treatment options, and decide what to practice at home.
